Think the Unthinkable.
This week, I was with 250 nonprofit CEOs at an event in Portland, hosted by the Murdock Trust. Trust CEO Romanita Hairston said, "Some walls are so old and have existed so long...that we have mistaken them for reality itself. We have stopped seeing them as constructed and demolishable."
Similarly, Barry Corey, President of Biola University, said, "We can be nostalgic and keep on doing things the same way, because that's who we are. We're comfortable that we're not going to take any risks, we're not going to explore new ideas, we're not going to think outside of the box. We're not going to create new wineskins."
Our imaginations get handcuffed.
Across the sector, nonprofit CEOs get walloped by unforeseen crises, sometimes daily.
It’s unpleasant. Disorienting. Uncomfortable. Stressful.
